Catholic school suffers graffiti attack in France
Graffiti tainted the walls, windows and surroundings of the Notre-Dame school in the French town of La Tranche-sur-Mer, which is about to reopen its doors to students, according to the protocol set out by the Ministry of National Education.
Joëlle Darquin, the director of the school, said: “It is just a sick and malicious act, especially since we have received neither letters nor verbal threats. The presence of a swastika figure on the wall is just incomprehensible. We immediately complained to the police. A school should remain a protected space.”
Marie-Christine Richard, president of the parents’ association, is also outraged: “It is despicable. Fortunately, parents of students immediately mobilised themselves to clean and repaint the walls,” she said. It was also remarked that the municipal services had taken charge of cleaning the graffiti in the public area, for which they are responsible.
“These are regrettable acts. I hope the investigation will uncover the perpetrators and that they will be punished,” stated Mayor Serge Kubryk.
