Iran: the life of four imprisoned Christians is at high risk
According to official — and therefore questionable information, the Iranian government admitted yesterday that Covid-19 has killed 1,135 people and that 17,361 others have contracted the virus.
The risk of an extreme rise in the number of infected people in the country’s prisons is such that the regime has decided to provisionally release 85,000 prisoners sentenced to terms of less than five years.
Seven Christians are believed to be among the released prisoners. For four others, Muslims who converted to Christianity, there will be no early release measures although their appeal procedures were accepted in October 2019.
Nasser Navard Gol-Tapeh, Yousef Nadarkhani, Mohammad Reza (Yohan) Omidi and Zaman (Saheb) Fadaei have each been sentenced to more than ten years in prison. The day of their potential release is still unknown.
