Ethiopia: radical Muslims attack Christians and burn down a church
On March 3 2020 seven Christians who were evangelizing have been attacked by a group of Muslims. The Christians managed to run away from the attackers by getting to the local Police station where they found protection.
The Police wanted to free the Christians but the head of the local mosque put the officers under pressure, claiming they came to burn the local mosque. The group of Christians has therefore still not been released.
According to someone who was able to contact them, they would have said that “it is a privilege for us to suffer for Christ in this way”.
On March 3, around 9 p.m., the Muslim gang went directly from the mosque to the only church in the neighborhood. Carrying fuel, sticks and stones and chanting “Allahu Akbar”, they set fire to the church buildings. The attackers also demolished the homes of three Christians and vandalized other properties.
