“We have something most of the West no longer has today”, says Polish President
During a visit to Rabka-Zdrój (southern Poland) , Polish President Andrzej Duda solemnly unveiled a plaque commemorating the First Lady Maria Kaczyńska who died ten years ago in the Presidential plane's crash in Smoleńsk (western Russia).
” I want us to lead Poland to such a development as in Western Europe, where communism has never been experienced, where there was never an iron curtain, where there was never foreign domination, where they could decide for themselves, develop themselves,”said the Polish President during the meeting with residents.
“We have our great additional strength. Do you know what it is? Something that most of the West no longer has today. It is our faith, it is our tradition, it is our culture so deeply rooted in our families, based on Christian roots” added Duda.
On April 10, 2020, Poland will commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Smoleńsk plane crash that costed the country it’s President Lech Kaczyński, the above-mentioned First Lady Maria Kaczyńska as well as 94 other high ranked officers, bishops, intellectuals and other key figures of the Polish state. Many observer consider this event as the biggest tragedy of the Polish history in the 21st century so far.
