Church of England apologizes for being “institutionally racist”

Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, spiritual leader of the Anglicans, said Tuesday February 11, at a general synod of the Church of England, that the church was "deeply and institutionally racist", apologizing to the "discriminated minorities".

The Church of England voted “unanimously” to “apologize for the conscious and unconscious racism suffered by countless black Anglicans, Asians and other ethnic minorities in 1948 and the years that followed, while they were looking for a spiritual home “

During the Synod, Reverend Andrew Moughtin-Mumby told how the family of one of his parishioners, who had been denied access to a church in south London in 1961 “because of the black colour of their skin “,” suffered from a horrible and humiliating racism which still affects his relationship today with the institution.”
