French far left wants to change a town’s name to make it sound more secular

The municipal elections are approaching in France. The far left People's Assembly (far Left) are concerned about the name of one town where they hope to win. They consider that the town of Saint-Brieuc would sound better if it was renamed "Port-Brieuc". Saint Brieuc is one of the seven founding saints of the region of Brittany.
In a Facebook publication of January 20, 2020, the page “Saint-Brieuc rebels” originally renowned Saint-Brieuc in Port-Brieuc. If the argument for the enhancement of the city’s maritime role is advanced in this choice, the anticlerical hostility of this Briochine left seems to be the main motivation for this desire for change.
The local “rebels” thus recall that “during the Revolution, Saint-Brieuc was called Port-Brieuc”. And they ask: “In these times of crisis, wouldn’t the time have come to reaffirm our secularism by cutting the holy umbilical cord of our commune? ”
Since then, the publication has been deleted from the Facebook page in question. But that still says a lot about the will of this fiercely secular left to sweep away the last vestiges of Breton and French identity.
