Christian convert activist arrested in Tehran after criticizing the regime’s ‘soft repression’

It is unclear where Fatmeh Mohammadi, a 21-year-old Christian convert, had been transferred and her family is extremely concerned about her well-being.
The Human Rights Activists News Agency first reported on the account of 21-year-old Christian convert Fatemeh Mohammadi, who was arrested in during a protest on Azadi (Freedom) Square in Tehran, Iran.
Mohammadi was detained near Azadi Square in Tehran, where protests occurred after the Iranian military shot down a Ukranian passenger plane and killed 176 people. Although several people were arrested in connection with protests that took place in multiple cities, it is not clear whether Mohammadi was participating in any of the protests, Christianpost reported.
Article 18, a UK-based human rights watchdog for religious freedom reports that on the day of her arrest, Mary published a series of tweets in which she said the Iranian people were facing “soft repression” through being spoon-fed only news that the regime wanted them to read.
In her tweets, she used hashtags that, when translated, mean “hard-pressed” and “suppression is the norm”.
This is not the first time that she had been arrested. Last July, Mohammadi was arrested for she weared the hijab improperly.
According to Open Doors USA’s 2020 World Watch List, Iran ranks as the ninth-worst country to live in as a Christian. Conversion is prohibited and culpable not only in Sunni but Shia Islam too.
