Another Christian convert released from prison

In 2020, the Christian convert, along with three others, faced arrest for establishing a house church. Now, two of them have been released from prison before the end of their sentences.
An Iranian Christian convert, known as Yasser, was arrested in 2020 together with three other Christians. They were charged with acting against national security by establishing a house church. Yasser was sentenced to 10 years in prison in November 2020. He learned in prison that his 18-year-old only son passed away and was informed too late to attend his funeral.
After several applications and rejections for retrial, his appeal in April of this year was accepted. His case was also brought before the same court of appeal, Branch 21, as a recently released Iranian Christian pastor, Anooshavan Avedian. In Yasser’s case, the court also decided to shorten the sentence and set the Christian convert free. Yasser left the prison on September 29, where he had spent almost five years. He was welcomed by his family, friends, and fellow Christian convert and convict, Mehdi Rokhparvar, with whom he was sentenced in 2020. Rokhparvar was released in 2023.
