California governor wants a ‘no-kill state’ but fails to question abortion

In a press conference, California Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom laid out the details for his budget for the upcoming year, which includes a $50 million fund allocation to the UC Davis Koret Shelter Medicine Program. The purpose is to develop a grant program for animal shelters in the state with the objective of ending the killing of animals.

Gavin Newsom made his intention clear to make California a “no kill-state”. This charitable project would be worth of admiration if only it was… coherent. Indeed, despite his willingness to protect the lives of amnimals, the Democratic senator seems to forget about the lives of his own species, human beings.

According to the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute, at least fifteen percent of all abortions of the USA take place in California. In addition to having one of the most permissive policies regarding abortion, California also allows the killing of adults through assisted suicide. State laws were also amended to say that someone who encourages a person to kill himself will not be persecuted.

Newsom’s discourse is another good example of the unavoidable lackings of the liberal “logic”. Making California a “no-kill state”would require numerous legal changes and a major ideological shift that would remind politicians like him that human lives are at least as valuable than those of animals.
