Three Conceptionist religious were kidnapped in Cameroon, Africa
Three members of a Catholic missionary religious order called the Order of the Immaculate Conception of Our Lady, were kidnapped in the English-speaking part of Cameroon.
The kidnapped missionaries are Fr Jude Thaddeus Langeh Basebang, Fr Placide Muntong and a young seminarian from the same congregation.
The three men were kidnapped on the 24th of November on their way to the parish of Muyenge, to evangelise in the town.
The kidnappers were armed men, but no further information as to their identity is currently available. Unfortunately, cases of violence against religious personnel are not unusual in the English-speaking part of Cameroon and Christian people, in general, have to face strong persecution in this area of the country.
A tragic example of this is the case of Fr Cosmas Omboto Ondari, a Kenyan missionary, who belonged to the Society of Saint Joseph of Mill Holland. He was killed in Kembong, some kilometres from Memfe, the capital of the South-Oriental sector of the country in November of this year.
