Satanic Temple unveiled a demonic statue at New Hampshire State House

The Satanic Temple (TST) marked its annual holiday tradition of installing satanic displays alongside Nativity scenes on government property by unveiling a statue of the demon Baphomet at the New Hampshire State House in Concord on Saturday evening.

The unveiling ceremony, accompanied by chants of “Hail Satan!”, featured a statue of Baphomet dressed in black and holding a bouquet of purple lilacs—the state flower of New Hampshire—in its right hand. A live stream of the event aired on Facebook provided details of the display.

The statue was adorned with a purple stole bearing the TST logo, which includes an inverted pentagram and goat’s head, as well as two inverted crosses.

At its base was a tablet inscribed with the seven tenets of The Satanic Temple, while a black-and-white satanic flag stood to the left of the figure. Orpheus Gaur, a minister for TST’s New Hampshire and Vermont congregation, explained the symbolism during the event. Gaur, who also designed the display, serves as director of the Satanic Representation Campaign, according to the Concord Monitor.

The statue’s left-hand holds an apple, symbolizing the forbidden fruit. Gaur described it as representing “our quest for knowledge, defiance in the face of arbitrary authority, and our commitment to self-determination.”
