A Christian girl was rescued from forced marriage to an elderly Muslim man
Javed Masih breathed a sigh of relief last week after finally reuniting with his 18-year-old daughter, Sana, who had been missing for five months in Pakistan. During her absence, Sana was reportedly forcibly converted to Islam and married to an elderly Muslim man.
The youngest of seven children, Sana vanished on June 9 after leaving their home in Lahore, Punjab Province, to visit a nearby shop. She never returned.“Our desperate search for her came to an end in mid-October when I received a call from a Christian in Balochistan Province who informed me about her location,” said Masih, a Catholic truck driver.
However, he did not see Sana in person until November 14. According to Masih, a Muslim woman known only as Hafsa had contacted his daughter on WhatsApp shortly before she disappeared. “Sana told us that Hafsa emotionally manipulated her into meeting secretly, without our knowledge,” Masih explained to Christian Daily International-Morning Star News. “Hafsa even sent her money and instructed her to take a bus to Dera Ismail Khan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province.
From there, Sana boarded another bus to a remote village in Balochistan Province.”Upon arriving at Hafsa’s house, Sana was immediately stripped of her phone and held captive, Masih said.
