Pastor and his family killed in extremist attack

Islamist extremists carried out attacks in Uganda. One of the attacks targeted a Christian pastor and his family. The attackers set the family's house ablaze, killing the pastor, his wife, and their two children. The other attack occurred when a Muslim husband found out that his wife converted to Christianity. He beat her and then poured acid on her.

Weere Mukisa was a pastor in Kibale village, Mpumiro Parish, Uganda. Muslim extremists targeted him and his family because of the pastor’s activity. On the night of October 13, Islamists from a neighboring village set the house of Pastor Mukisa on fire. His whole family, his wife, and their two children, aged 7 and 4, were trapped inside and lost their lives in the attack.

The pastor’s brother told Morning Star News that his brother received threats from Islamists after he converted three Muslims to Christianity.

When the three young Muslims converted to Christ, my brother started receiving threatening messages that he should stop any contact with the three young converts, and that the act committed is against the teaching of Islam to not join the religion of infidels.”

When people from the village arrived at their house, it was already too late to save the family. The case was reported, and the police are looking for the suspects.

The other religious extremist violence occurred in Nankoma, Bugiri District, Uganda. In this case, the wife of a Muslim man converted to Christianity in August but managed to keep it a secret from her husband. However, on October 9, after the worship service the wife attended, her husband questioned her, and she confessed that she had indeed converted to Christianity. After she opened up about her conversion, her husband beat her and departed. He returned later and poured battery acid over her. His wife lost consciousness during the ordeal but is now recovering in hospital, where she is still being treated for her injuries.
