Chad Pecknold mentioned as part of this harmony that both Pope Francis and Hungary strongly support the need to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, as well as the need to protect children. The American professor added that both the Catholic Church and Hungarian politics are committed to the idea that Christianity is an essential element in the renewal of nations.

The professor, who teaches in Washington, D.C., said that Pope Francis’ reputation in the United States is controversial, among Catholics, Protestants, and those on both the left and right of politics. He identified the reason for this as Pope Francis’ clear and, in many cases, contrary stance on geopolitical issues that affect the United States. This includes the Pope’s opinion that the United States should maintain good relations with China, as well as his strong efforts to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. The Pope’s critical views on gender ideology also do not align with the views of many in the United States, according to Chad Pecknold in the interview with the local media.
