Hungary provides emergency aid to a Spanish parish
As reported earlier, a sacristan was killed, and several people injured, including a priest, in a stabbing attack last Wednesday night at a church in Algeciras in southern Spain. After the tragic incident, Hungarian State Secretary Tristan Azbej expressed his deepest sympathy on Hungary's national television towards the family of the murdered sacristan. He also announced that Hungary provided emergency aid to the Spanish parish.
In the televised program on Friday, he explained that the primary duty of the Hungary Helps Program is to help the victims of Christian persecution. After the tragic incident in Spain, the Hungarian government felt urged to support the Spanish parish and decided to provide immediate aid of 4,000 dollars.
The attack occurred “shortly before 8:00 p.m.” in the church of San Isidro in Algeciras, said the Interior Ministry and not in that of San Lorenzo, as it had indicated initially by mistake.
According to the information from the Spanish El Mundo, the attacker was a Moroccan man, who shouted “Allahu Akbar”, which showed his religious motivation.
“We observed that Christian persecution is one of the biggest and most serious human right violation of our age. However, western liberal politicians, governments and national organizations try to sweep the problem under the rug”, the State Secretary said in the interview.
