A house church has been closed by Chinese authorities

A house church in Jilin province’s Changchun raided last month by police during its Sunday worship is now disbanded by the government.
On September 7, Changchun city’s Civil Affairs Bureau published a notice to ban the House of Light Church, since it is not registered and has been conducting activities as a social group.
The notice reads that the church violates Article 23 of the Regulations for Registration and Management of Social Organizations and Article 2 and 9 of the Interim Measures for Banning Illegal Non-Governmental Organizations, deeming it an illegal social group.
According to China Aid, the house church follows Reformed tradition and its pastor Zhang Yong (aka Guo Muyun) was one of the signatories of “A Declaration for the Sake of the Christian Faith,” a 2018 letter explaining the meaning and necessity of faithful disobedience given the deteriorating religious freedom in China.
