In Hungary mothers have to listen to the heartbeat of their children before abortion

According to a decree that enters into force on the 15th of September in Hungary, mothers will have to listen to the heartbeat of their children before aborting them.

From the 15th of September onwards,  as per a modification of an earlier decree, women who want to abort their children will have to present a  report issued by an obstetrician-gynaecologist proving that the mother was made aware of “the signs indicating the functioning of vital fetal functions”. One such function is the heartbeat of the fetus. The new decree aims to prevent abortion when mothers are unsure about aborting their children.

The decree was prompted by Mi hazánk right-wing party; its most committed supporter was Dóra Dúró, the party’s parliament deputy and mother of four.
