A YouTuber threatened with 10 years in prison for blasphemy in Indonesia
Muhammad Kacé (MKC), an Indonesian Christian YouTuber accused of blasphemy last August, is threatened with ten years in prison for blasphemy.
An indictment of more than a thousand pages against the youtubeur was read during the session last Wednesday, February 24, at the Ciamis court.
For the prosecutor, it is clear that MKC deliberately disseminated false information to cause unrest in the country. – in other words, sedition. Defendant MKC is now considered a dangerous agitator.
As such, it falls under the condemnation of the number one Indonesian penal code of 1946. But until now, this law has only been applied in exceptional situations, such as during the war against the Netherlands (1945- 1949).
