Open Doors urges the West to provide persecuted Christians with more support

Kurt Igler, the executive director of Open Doors Austria, called on Western countries to re-engage in the strengthening of human rights in 2022.

“Protecting and promoting religious freedom is more urgent than ever, especially in times when even wordless declarations on human rights are becoming rarer,” Igler explained, recalling that “religious freedom is the basis of many other freedoms.”

The Nigerian activist Djadi also called for increasing public awareness and interest in the issue of persecution of Christians.

“The fate of persecuted Christians is so terrible because it is a forgotten crisis. Acting in their interests and putting pressure on governments, as well as supporting relief organisations working on the ground, are absolutely necessary to give Christians the protection and security they need,” added Ilia Djadi from Open Doors.
