Three priests kidnapped in the DRC

On the night of the 21st of September, armed assailants attacked the Catholic presbytery of Kadutu, in South Kivu, a region of DR Congo, and kidnapped three out of the four priests who live in the cure.

Several houses in the town were looted, some at a short distance from the premises of the police who could not or wanted to do anything – which is fueling the deep crisis of confidence between the inhabitants and the police.

Another presbytery was attacked, in Beni Paida: ” Heavily armed men forced and smashed the doors of the rooms of Abbots Benoît, Olivier and Étienne. Benoît and Olivier were able to escape, through an emergency door, into the surrounding bush, while they threatened Father Étienne with death“.
