Christian cemetery vandalised in Casablanca

On the 12th of May, the Christian cemetery of Hay Mohammedi in Casablanca, Morocco, was vandalised by three people. Even though the cemetery was guarded, the attendants let the vandals escape to avoid conflict.

Three people vandalised the Christian cemetery of Hay Mohammedi in Ain Sebaâ. The gates of the cemetery were removed and the security equipment damaged. Some of the graves that belonged to famous Christian families were desecrated, among them the tomb of the Margini family.

In a statement to the Assabah newspaper, Julio Margini, vice-president of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Morocco, expressed his concern about these acts of vandalism. The representative of the local Italian community and the managers of the cemetery notified the local authorities.
