Church vandalised in Argentina

The El Bolson Church was vandalised by members of the indigenous population of the Andes mountain range.

At the beginning of this month, a group of a dozen people belonging to the Mapuche community (indigenous populations of the Andes mountain range, that runs between Argentina and Chile), vandalised the church of El Bolson, to protest about their expulsion from the community of a property that belongs to the bishopric and which they have occupied for several months.

Two members of the community entered the Parish of Our Lady of Luján with the excuse of using the toilet. Then they started to vandalise and violently occupy the church. They assaulted the priest and caused serious damages to the building.

The individuals damaged images, broke up the furniture and basically turned the church upside down.
