Abducted Cardinal released in Cameroon

A day after being kidnapped, Cardinal Christian Tumi, Archbishop Emeritus of Douala was released by his abductors on the 6th of November, after prolonged negotiations.
The ninety-year-old cardinal was kidnapped at around 6 PM, on the 5th of November with eleven other people. Cardinal Tumi has already been released, apparently for a ransom, but the other people are still in the hands of the kidnappers.
The local Church is hoping that “the others will be released safe and sound”. His Excellency Mgr George Nkuo, Bishop of Kumbo said:
“We are looking for all possible ways to ensure their release. We invite Cameroonians to pray for this”.
The kidnappers are said to be separatists, led by the so-called “General Chaomao”, a former pastor. On the 24th of October, eight children were killed by suspected separatist attackers in Kumba, in the southwest in an attack on their college, the Madre Francisca International Bilingual Academy.
