A Christian politician was abducted during a church Bible study shooting
According to various sources, gunmen in southern Nigeria kidnapped a prominent Christian woman, Joan Onyemaechi, also known as Ada Anioma, on Tuesday during a church Bible study.
The attack, which took place at the King Jesus and I Church in Asaba, the capital of Delta state, resulted in the deaths of her driver and a policeman.
Onyemaechi, who is the wife of Delta state’s Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Peter Mrakpor, has a notable background, having served as a representative in the federal House of Representatives in 2015 and as commissioner for Technical Education until her resignation earlier this year.
In addition to the fatalities, the gunmen wounded another policeman and a civilian during the abduction. Church members Kenneth Ohen and Austin Okoronko reported to Christian Daily International Morning Star News that the gunmen entered the church while members were engaged in a Bible study session.
