Armenian Prime Minister accuses Turkey of “treading the path to genocide”

The Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan accused Turkey on of "treading the path of genocide again." He reiterated his opinion that the Turkish army is leading a direct offensive by Azerbaijani units against Armenian ethnic forces around Nagorno-Karabakh.
The presidents of France, Russia and the United States called for an immediate ceasefire between Azerbaijan and Armenian forces around Nagorno-Karabakh. However, Turkey stated that the three countries should not engage in a ceasefire in the disputed region of the Caucasus, given that they had neglected problems there for around thirty years.
“The situation is much more serious than the previous clashes in 2016. It would be more appropriate to compare it with what happened in 1915, when over 1.5 million Armenians were murdered during the first genocide of the 20th century,” Nikol Pashinyan told french newspaper Le Figaro.
Pashinyan further added that Turkey had sent thousands of Syrian mercenaries to the Nagorno-Karabakh region and that Turkish officers were directly involved in leading the Azerbaijani offensive.
“The world must be aware of what is happening here,” said Nikol Pashinyan. – Turkey’s wish is to strengthen its role and influence in the South Caucasus. Erdogan realises his dream of building an empire imitating the Sultanate and is embarking on a path that could shake the region,” he concluded.
