A church was desecrated and the priest threatened in the Northeast Region of Brazil

On the night of the 8th of September, the Church of Saint Francis of Assisi in the State of Ceará was graffitied with the emblem of criminal organisations. Malicious sentences and a death threat addressed to the priest of the church were also discovered.
According to Aciprensa, the vandalism was discovered by the sacristan when he opened the church.
“There still isn’t any suspect. The walls have been scratched with the name of two criminal organisations in the State, but there is no other sign that would prove their involvement. Furthermore, we found obscene and malicious sentences written on the main altar of the church,” says the parish’s blog.
Sentences such as, “The devil commands here”, and “death to the priest” were graffitied on the altar. A statue of Saint Francis of Assisi was also vandalised.
The parish reported that the vandals had not stolen anything nor was the sanctuary was moved.
