Mozambique continues to be a growth area for ISIS
Northern Mozambique has become the latest battleground against ISIS in Africa. The terrorist group has already established a solid splinter cell in West Africa, which has been operating for several years. Now it appears that they have a growing group in central Africa that is beginning to gain strength
During these attacks, they killed dozens of people, and destroyed a lot of government property including police stations and military outposts. They were also able to seize supplies and food. The ongoing attacks and growing strength of this group in Northern Mozambique is threatening an already poor and downtrodden population.
Inhabitants of the Cabo Delgado region have long complained that the natural resources of their home are being taken by rich developers from outside the region. Since the money generated leaves the area, discontent is growing against the government, which may have motivated ISIS to start a local group.
So far, there has been no significant indications that the attacks in this area are targeting Christians, but this may happen if the group gains a substantial foothold. ISIS has a proven track record across the globe for hating Christ and his followers. From the devastated Christian population of the Middle East to the displaced Christian people of West Africa, ISIS has been attacking and killing Christians throughout the world.
