The donation has already arrived in Turkey and was received by Patriarch Bartholomew I of Constantinople. According to a post on Facebook of Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó, the medical supplies will be distributed among Turkish orthodox communities to be used in the fight against the virus.

After the transportation to Bursa and Antalya – where most of the Slavic and Russian-speaking communities live – the masks will be given to the people.

Despite the pandemic, the Hungarian Government is continuing with its humanitarian aid policy.

As Tristan Azbej, Minister of State for helping persecuted Christians commented the rumours, “like every government now, we are also focusing on the internal fight against the virus, while however, the fate of persecuted Christians is not forgotten.”
