Beatification of Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński is suspended

The beatification of Cardinal StefanWyszyński, initially programmed for the 7th of June has been suspended, declared Cardinal Kazimierz Nycz. "A new date will be fixed and published with plenty of notice, after the pandemic has ended, to enable appropriate preparations to take place," the Warsaw metropolitan wrote in a communiqué.

During the press briefing, the hierarch noted that “the Primate had many hard times in his life”, referring to the numerous occasions when Cardinal Wyszyński fell victim of the communist regimes brutality in the 1950s and the 1960s.

“Given the greatness and widespread familiarity with the new Blessed, we must facilitate the participation of a large number of believers, including Poles and guests from abroad at the beatification ceremonies,” wrote Cardinal Nycz.

The Warsaw Metropolitan informed that the Committee preparing the beatification has been suspended but not dissolved. “Exemplary cooperation with the authorities of the state and Warsaw in the preparation of the beatification will continue,” he assured.
