Jihadist group in Mozambique wants “government from Allah”
Mozambique has been suffering since its independence and the subsequent civil war which ended in 1992. As an outcome, increasing jihadist movement in the northern part of the country has emerged.
Islamist insurgency has engulfed Mozambique since 2017. With growing poverty and economic decline, extremists have slipped into the country, posing a threat, especially to the northern region.
A jihadist group in Northern Mozambique has declared that they “want a government from Allah”, according to videos released by the group, International Christian Concern reported.
According to ICC, the video seems to have taken place in the town of Mocimboa da Praia, a key location in the northern district of Cabo Delgado.
The group profess full Sharia law to guide the government in their region. This would be bad for Christians who would definitely be made lower class citizens and would likely be persecuted for their faith.
