Holy sites are under quarantine in the West Bank

As a precautionary measure the Palestinian Authority is prohibiting the travel between Betlehem and other Palestinian cities and shuts down all of the Holy Sites within the West Bank and other tourist destinations for at least 30 days.

 

In order to prevent the spread of the virus, the Palestinian Authority is prohibiting the visit of the frequented sites within the West Bank and creates a quarantine for 30 days following the outbreak of the coronavirus.

Israelis returning from abroad are obliged to remain in quarantine for 14 days, resulting in tens of thousands of people being separated. 

Following the Palestinian Ministry of Health’s decision, workers in protective clothing disinfected the Church of the Nativity in Manger Square, to make it safe for clergy, who are the only ones permitted inside the church, National Catholic Register reported.

The Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem urged believers not to panic and canceled all ecclesial and pastoral activities until it is not safe to hold mass gatherings. 

The virus has a strong effect on both Muslims, Christians and Jews who are working in tourism since the outbrake of the virus will have a major setback in this industry for an unpredictable period of time.
