Video Posted on Social Media of Indian Christians being Dishonored and Harassed
An offensive video was posted to social media of a man chasing a group of Christians in India in an attempt to “anoint” them with water mixed with cow dung, International Christian Concern reports.
According to local Christians, this video shows how India’s Christians are being perceived and mistreated by the country’s Hindu majority.
According to Asia News, the incident took place in Machilipatnam Mandal, located in the Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh. In the description accompanying the video, someone wrote:
“Christian pastors came to foist their propaganda and conversions but were chased away by throwing water mixed with dung on their faces.”
Speaking to Asia News, Sajan K. George, President of the Global Council of Indian Christians, said, “This is the pathetic situation in which Christians live, dishonored in public because they praise the name of Jesus.”
“Water and cow dung are usually used for purification rituals,” George went on to explain. “Especially if Dalits touch something making the place or object impure.”
According to Asia News, the video has now been viewed thousands of time.
