British Muslim MP shows support for persecuted Christians

Rehman Chishti is a Muslim deputy in the House of Commons of the British Parliament, and he is also the Prime Minister's special envoy for freedom of religion and belief. He showed several times his willingness to help and support persecuted Christians.

In November 2018 he authored a letter signed by 125 parliamentarians from across the house calling on the Government to offer asylum to Asia Bibi (a Christian asylum seeker from Pakistan).

He resigned from his post as vice-president of the Conservative Party and from his duties as special envoy of the then Prime Minister, Theresa May, when political asylum was refused.

Unlike the majority of his counterparts, the British MP annonced that he will participate to the London Marathon organized by the Catholic NGO Aid to the Church in Need on April 26.
