Young Christian girl raped in school

A young Pakistani Christian girl was raped by a Muslim school employee. The tests proved the abuse of the six-year-old schoolgirl. Both Christian and Muslim religious leaders visited the victim and her parents, expressing their closeness and ensuring them of their support and dedication to bringing justice.

A six-year-old Pakistani Christian girl was raped by an employee of the Asan School System in Faisal Town, Pakistan. The Muslim man raped the young schoolgirl on October 31, according to witnesses. A complaint against the perpetrator was filed, and thanks to the quick reaction of the police in cooperation with the parents, he is under custody in prison. Now the parents are waiting for the DNA results since the examination of their daughter proved the sexual assault. The young victim is in a bad condition, especially psychologically, because of trauma caused by the violent act.

Both Christian and Muslim religious leaders condemned the incident and gathered together for an interfaith meeting on November 9 at the Catholic parish of St. Francis’ in Kot Lakhpat. The leaders visited the victim and her family, ensuring them of their support and their dedication to bring justice. The Muslim and Christian leaders gathered and also discussed the crisis of violence against Christian minorities, especially women and children, as they are the most vulnerable to assault and persecution.

The case of this young girl is not an isolated incident. In many instances, Christian women and girls are subjected to rape, abduction, forced marriage, and confinement. These acts are means in the hands of their oppressors to rip them off of their dignity and human rights, giving the victims lifelong, lasting trauma.

In the light of the recent events and the current situation, the inter-religious meeting focused on inter-religious dialogue, mutual respect, putting an end to the mistreatment of minorities, and creating a safe and peaceful future for the children.
