No misconduct found in investigation of Canadian cardinal
A lawsuit was issued against Cardinal Gérald Lacroix and the Archdiocese of Québec. It accused the Cardinal of misconduct and abuse. The investigation concludes that there were no signs of misconduct or abuse found.
The investigation was led by André Denis, a retired judge of the Superior Court of Québec, on the order of Pope Francis in the case of Cardinal Gérald C. Lacroix, Archbishop of Québec. Cardinal Lacroix was accused anonymously of misconduct and abuse.
The investigation has been ongoing since the 8th of February concluding on the 6th of May, and the statement releasing the findings was issued on the 21st of May. In the document, Judge Denis stated that “any actions that amount to misconduct or abuse” have not been found, and no further canonical investigation is needed. Pope Francis thanked Judge Denis for his thorough work and diligence throughout the investigation.
