Lebanese Christian politician killed by Syrian gang members
Pascal Sleiman was a member of the Lebanese Forces Christian party. Syrian gang members killed him during a carjack. Many suspect Hezbollah's involvement.
On April 8, the Lebanese army announced the death of Pascal Sleiman. According to the report, Syrian gang members killed him during a carjack. The Lebanese politician was an official of the Lebanese Forces Christian party and the coordinator in the Byblos area.
On April 12, thousands gathered for the funeral of Pascal Sleiman and mourned the murdered politician. Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rai conducted the funeral.
Many are skeptical about the circumstances of Sleiman’s death. The Lebanese Forces party openly opposes not only the Syrian government but also its Lebanese ally, the Hezbollah. Mourners suspect the involvement of Hezbollah in Sleiman’s death.
“If they (Hezbollah) did not kill him, at the very least they allowed the Syrians in. We are all at risk of meeting Pascal’s fate.”
Hassan Nasrallah, chief of Hezbollah, denied their involvement in the death of Pascal Sleiman.
