Politicians from the Hungarian government travelled to Mauritania to hand over some financial support from the Hungary Helps that will go towards the maintenance and development of a centre for severely disabled children. The sum of twenty-one thousand dollars was received by Mgr. Martin Happe, Catholic Bishop of Mauritania.

On his Facebook page, State Secretary Tristan Azbej wrote:

“In crisis areas and developing countries around the world, we have found that churches are our best humanitarian allies.”

According to him, Churches are good at managing money, and they deliver aid to those most in need.

Mauritania is in a challenging situation. There are natural disasters in the country due to climate change, and the risk of terrorism has increased in recent years. Therefore, Hungarian support is vital in this African country to avoid a huge wave of migration and help people stay in their own country.
