A statue of the Virgin Mary decapitated in France
Last May, a cross at Pic Saint-Loup was desecrated. This time, a statue of the Virgin Mary has been targeted in the southern French town of Sumène in the region of Guard.
Right next to the Hérault bridge in Sumène, passers-by discovered a decapitated statue of the Virgin Mary. The headless statue was strewn on the ground along with other fragments of the sculpture.
A large stone was found near to the statue which leads one to believe that the attack was malicious.
The religious symbol acts as a “guide” for travellers and strives to protect them from dangerous roads.
