A Catholic youth group of the city of Sahiwal in Pakistan decided to reach out to the homeless, especially those who sleep on the streets, deprived of any possibility to find shelter and food, or settled under the trees with no roof above their heads. 

Speaking to Agenzia Fides, Ashiknaz Khokhar, secretary of the youth group said that they had created a food bank in the Catholic Church of the city with the participation of priests of the parish, to help people in need. 

“We have an active group of young Christians, but our Muslim and Hindu friends are also actively supporting us in distributing food,” he added.

According to Agenzia Fides, the “Way of Life” youth group in the city of Karachi has also launched a similar effort to support people living in poverty. After providing food aid of twenty kilogrammes each to eight hundred Christian, Hindu and Muslim families, in the next phase they are going to offer fresh vegetables to one hundred families every day.
