Fulani herdsmen attack Christian couple in Plateau State, Nigeria
Muslim Fulani herdsmen attacked a Christian couple with machetes in Plateau State Nigeria, on Sunday the 26th of April, leaving the husband with serious injuries, Morning Star News reported.
Yusuf Pam and his wife, Jumai Yusuf, were riding a motorcycle from Kuru to Kwi when the herdsmen ambushed them near Heipang, south of the states administrative capital, Jos.
Speaking to Morning Star News, Pam said, “The herdsmen ganged up on me and started to beat me severely using sticks and swords.”
Miraculously, his wife was able to escape with minor cuts, her hands swollen with blows from the sticks, he added.
After she managed to escape, his wife cried for help as she approached her community who sent members rushing to the scene, where they found her husband in a pool of blood.
This attack is yet another in a row which targets Christians. The conflict between Muslim Fulani herdsmen and Christians is becoming a serious issue in Nigeria, for which the government has not provided a satisfactory answer.
The rivalry for tillable land, however, is more an agricultural conflict than s religious one.
