India: Police arrest seven church attendees in Kerala

A police raid took place on Sunday the 29th of March at the Congregation of Missionaries of the Faith Seminary in the Wayanad district. Mass was being celebrated in the seminary chapel by its rector, in the presence of another priest, two seminarians and three nuns. All of them were arrested.
Initially, the police gave no reason for the arrest. Later however, those arrested were severely admonished and then released. They were ordered not to re-offend because such acts were deemed to violate the general lockdown decreed by the central government.
The safety measures started on the 24th of March and will remain in place until the 14th of April. The problem with the seven arrested people is that they reside in this very seminary all year long.
If living in community is now prohibited, then all seminaries, convents and abbeys would have to be closed. Should this principle be universally applied, even Pope Francis would not be able to celebrate his daily Mass in Santa-Martha in the presence of some priests, nuns and staff members in the Vatican.
