Turkey: abducted Chaldean Christian found dead

On Saturday the 21st of March, the body of Şimuni Diril was found in a river near the village of Meer (southeastern Turkey).

This 65 year old Chaldean woman was abducted by armed men in the village of Meer [Kovankaya in Turkish] on the 11th of January. Her husband, Hurmuz Diril, aged 71, has been kidnapped as well. He has not been found and is also probably dead by now.

Hurmuz Diril and his wife returned ten years ago to live in their village. They never wanted to leave, despite all the pressures put on them to move out of  Meer.

This sad news was reported by Assyria TV and shared on the french-speaking Facebook page “Assyrians: the unknown story”.
