Two other villages were hit the next day and eight other people were killed. The villages were partially or entirely destroyed by fire and two thousand inhabitants fled the place. The many wounded in these air raids were treated as best they could in the hospital closest to the strikes. However the lack of doctors and materials is pathetic as is the general situation of this Chin State, the poorest of the Burmese Union.

The Chin ethnic group converted to Christianity at the end of the nineteenth century. It is estimated that there are about 1.5 million Chins in Myanmar, more than a third of the population of the Chin State.

The Christian Chins represent between 80 to 90 per cent of the total population of this ethnic group who arrived in the territory of present-day Myanmar.
