France: Armenian genocide memorial desecrated in Lyon

The Armenian Genocide Memorial located in Place Antonin-Poncet in Lyon was desecrated on the 10th of March 2020. The vandals drew anarchist symbols on some of the columns and urinated on others.
Some of the messages targeted French authorities. “Macron, we will remember that under your glorious rule, the nation has been martyred,” is one of the sentences written on a column. In the context of the fast proliferation of the coronavirus all around Europe, it is unlikely that the perpetrators of this highly disrespectful act will be found soon.
The Armenian Embassy in France has condemned the desecration, describing it as an act of vandalism.
As of 2020, governments and parliaments of 32 countries, including the United States, Germany, France, Italy, Canada, Russia and Brazil have formally recognized the Armenian Genocide.
