40 Christians died in attacks during the Easter holiday in Nigeria

Northern-Nigeria was the scene of anti-Christian attacks during Holy-Week where at least 40 people died.

There were four fatal attacks in the northern part of the country:

On Easter Sunday, the 21st of April, in Sabon Layi, in the state of Gombe, a public security officer killed 13 young boys during a late night Easter Mass. Following a disagreement with some boys, who were directing traffic at the event, the officer rammed his vehicle into the religious procession.  Nine boys died instantly, and another four died later in hospital. A further 32 people suffered injuries, 12 of them are still in a serious condition.

On Good Friday, in the state of Benue, in the region of Katsina-Ala, 11 people were kidnapped when they came out from a church. The armed group later assassinated the individuals. According to Vanguard, a Nigerian newspaper,  at least 40 people are still missing after the raid. The identity and the motives of the attackers have still not been determined.

In the state of Benue, in Kwande, on the 17th of April, at 8 AM, Fulani herdsmen attacked the community of Sendegh. Two people were killed and many others have disappeared. The assailants also burned down houses and shops in the village.

As previously reported, on Palm Sunday, the 14th of April, at 9 PM, in the state of Nasarawa, another village called Kochum-Numa was attacked and 17 people were massacred during a baptism ceremony. The perpetrators of this attack have not yet been found but police suspect that  Fulani herdsmen were involved.
