On the 4th of January, a young Christian man was harassed and threatened with death, in Larbaâ Nath Irathen, 30 km far from Tizi-Ouzou, in Kabylia, Algeria. The victim was a singer attached to a Christian church in the region.

The artist was attacked by a group of “bearded” Islamists who criticised him for his conversion to the Christian faith. They warned him not to go to the Larbaâ Nath Irathen church again and then broke his guitar. The man is currently suffering from psychological trauma; his multiple bodily injuries however are not believed to be life-threatening.

The victim reported his attackers and their crimes to the police.  Campaigners have defended him on the social networks in an effort to prevent further acts of this kind.
