Boko Haram killed two people near Chibok, in Nigeria

Boko Haram jihadists killed two people in a village near the northeast Nigerian town of Chibok, where more than 200 schoolgirls were kidnapped four years ago, residents said on Monday.

This attack took place the day before Christmas and targeted a majority Christian area. It also comes during a time when terrorist groups in Nigeria have increased attacks on military, governmental and strategic targets. The two people were killed during a raid when the Abubakar Shekau faction terrorists burned down several houses and stole needed supplies.

With these increased attacks, Boko Haram has been trying to regain territory and strength that they have lost over the past five years of conflict.

As the country enters into another presidential election season, this has to be one of the top priorities. Boko Haram and Fulani militant attacks claimed the lives of more than 2600 people in 2018 alone. If the next administration is not serious about stopping these kinds of terrorist activities, the people of Nigeria, especially Christians, are going to continue to suffer the brunt of extremist’s ideals.
