The Pope renewed his appeal for the exchange of prisoners of war between Russia and Ukraine. He spoke about this matter during the Regina Caeli on Ascension Sunday. He reassured his support for this cause and said that the Holy See is ready to facilitate every effort in this regard.

Pope Francis raised his voice in the matter of the exchange of prisoners of war on numerous occasions. He is not only a fierce advocate for peace and the release of prisoners but also actively partakes in the matter. Since the beginning of the war, there have been more than fifty exchanges of Russian and Ukrainian prisoners of war.

Pope Francis also appealed and asked believers to pray for peace in the world.

“Let us continue to pray for peace, in Ukraine, in Palestine, in Israel, in Myanmar… let us pray for peace!”
