4,000 Christians killed and 2,300 kidnapped in Nigeria in one year
More than 4,000 Christians have been murdered, and another 2,300 kidnapped in Nigeria in the first ten months of 2022, a recent rapport of Intersociety Role of Law says.
Intersociety has reported that 4,020 Christians were ‘massacred’ in Nigeria and 2,315 abducted between January and October 2022, an average of thirteen deaths and eight kidnappings per day.
“In the last ten months of 2022, as many as 4,020 defenceless Christians have been massacred in Nigeria by Islamic terrorist jihadists,” reads the report, which specifies, “the most atrocious and the most brutal are the jihadist Fulani herders and their regionally allied Islamic terrorist groups who jointly accounted for 2,650 of the total 4,020 Christian deaths”.
According to Intersociety, ISWAP, Boko Haram, and Ansaru are responsible for 450 deaths, and Fulani for 350 deaths.
The organisation specifies that of the 2,315 Christians abducted, 231 were probably killed in captivity.
