Nigerian priest was honoured with the title “Hero of the Peace”

On the 23rd of September, the bishop of the Diocese of Yola, Stephen Dami Mamza received the "Prize to the Hero of the Peace", for his exemplary work in Nigeria.

 

The prizes are given by Sowers International, a Christian organisation residing in Nigeria, that was created to promote peace in Asia and Africa. They announced the name of the winners on the 21st of September, on the Day of Peace.

The president of Sowers International, Nicodemus Ozumba, said Fr. Mamza was honoured with the title Ambassador of Peace “for his contribution to peace and unity” in a very difficult period in Adamawa state.

Fr. Mamza thanked the Christian organisation for the prize and promised to continue working for peace, stating that   without peace, neither Christianity, nor the Nigerian country can develop.

Apart from Fr. Mamza, Alhaji Gambo Jika, the president of the Adamawa Capital of the Musulman Council of Nigeria; Amos Jika Yakubu, Bishop of Yola Diocese; and Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Governor of Adamawa State were also honoured.
